Statistorical info

I finally read this Reason article someone (FIL?) sent to me months ago: https://reason.com/2025/12/01/our-obsession-with-statistical-significance-is-ruining-science/

It explores the history of p-testing for statistical significance and an alternative approach to testing for truth (The Student’s test which it turns out should be called the Guinness test).

I don’t really have extensive thoughts, but it has seemed obvious to me since before I finished college that the pursuit of publishable (p<.05) results in academia was probably rife with twisting logic and truth to obtain status. I understand it’s better than nothing and I don’t understand the situation deeply, but it never sat right with me.
